Our job is to keep people safe. Thus, we adhere to the highest standards of legal and ethical conduct and remain committed to producing the highest quality products that are safe to use and to produce.
However, there are several dimensions of keeping people safe. This is why ZF LIFETEC is not only committed to safety and outstanding product quality but also to diversity and the health of its employees.
ZF LIFETEC is committed to diversity and equality. We recognize gender, cultural and regional diversity as a source of growth and enrichment, where all employees develop a sense of belonging and create innovative ideas. Over the years, we have maintained an equal workforce consisting of roughly 50% men and women and are on track to increase the gender diversity of our management team to 20% by 2030.
Nevertheless, diversity for ZF LIFETEC is more than gender diversity. As we want to emphasize different cultural and regional backgrounds, we aim at balancing the regional distribution of our graded managers. We promote an inclusive team culture with equal opportunities for all employees.
ZF LIFETEC produces products of the highest quality that are safe to use and is committed to delivering on its promise of keeping people safe when it matters the most. This is why we demand this responsible approach from every business partner as well.
A core principle of ZF LIFETEC is the zero-defect philosophy. ZF LIFETEC works continuously to improve its products to constantly optimize their quality and sustainability and sees this as a constant ongoing process. This high quality also results in less non-conforming output, which translates into lower energy and resource consumption, less production waste, lower costs, and a better sustainability profile.
ZF LIFETEC is focused on providing the highest health and safety standards for its employees. Prevention is not only about complying with legal requirements, but it is also about increasing the attractiveness of ZF LIFETEC as an employer, fostering employee loyalty, and creating a purpose for the company’s employees. Most importantly, prevention reduces injuries and other health problems. ZF LIFETEC measures its safety performance in production processes using the
lost time accident rate (LTAR) .
ZF LIFETEC is a frontrunner for lost time accident rates in its industry through effective occupational health and safety measures. ZF LIFETEC’s target is to have LTAR < 1 by 2025.
We look for further improvements through dedicated measures, such as campaigns, a Safety Excellence Program, site-specific improvement roadmaps, and the continuous sharing of best practices. ZF LIFETEC implements international safety standards in all sites and continuously reviews, improves, and standardizes processes to reduce health and safety risks to employees.
Our aim:
Respect for human rights is a fundamental component of our corporate governance. Our aim is to ensure that both we and our business partners consistently comply with globally recognized human rights.
In our activities, we are guided by international standards and frameworks such as the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, and the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact.
As we are part of the ZF Group, our human rights due diligence processes are embedded in the processes of the ZF Group . Nevertheless, we created the position of Human Rights Manager as part of our independent organization. With this step, we are realizing independent human rights due diligence processes. The Human Rights Manager has the task of establishing and continuously monitoring structures and processes for risk analysis and risk management.
The ZF Group Human Rights Policy Statement defines our responsibility and our processes to fulfill our human rights due diligence. The declaration was signed by the ZF Group and is updated regularly.
ZF LIFETEC expects its employees and business partners to behave in a manner that ensures respect for human rights. This expectation is specified in the Code of Conduct for Employees and the Code of Conduct for Business Partners. For suppliers of ZF LIFETEC, the Code of Conduct for Business Partners is contractually binding.
Our aim is to align our corporate culture and our structures with human rights due diligence and to practice and continuously improve them. We report on our progress in the ZF Group Annual Report and in the ZF Group’s specific statements on the UK Modern Slavery Act, the California Transparency Act, the Canadian Modern Slavery Report Bill, and the LkSG Bill.
Via the ZF Trustline, employees, affected parties at suppliers, and other individuals can provide us with information on actual or potential violations of human rights due diligence obligations or submit complaints. The system is available in several languages. If requested, reports are handled anonymously and processed according to a predefined process. At the same time, information flows into our risk analysis and thus also serves as an early warning system.
Our commitment to corporate social responsibility extends beyond providing the highest quality safety systems to actively contributing to the well-being and development of the communities in which we operate.
ZF LIFETEC is in the process of establishing its own ESG reporting according to certified standards and frameworks. For more information please visit the ZF Group download center to access reports and related information.
